I believe therapy is not simply about reducing symptoms; it is about creating the conditions for deeper connection, personal development, and meaningful transformation. I enjoy helping individuals, couples and families understand themselves better and navigate challenges more effectively.  With effective interventions clients are able to take action, increasing the likelihood that problems are addressed in meaningful and lasting ways.

Relationships are often the catalyst for our greatest challenges and our greatest growth.  Drawing from developmental, experiential, and strategic approaches, I help clients understand the recurring patterns that keep them feeling stuck and develop new ways of relating to themselves and others. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am trained to view the individual within the context of their relationship system, how individual problems are influenced by relational contexts and to use interventions designed to promote wellbeing through relationship. This is a helpful and effective lens for individuals, couples and families.

Formerly a park naturalist and environmental educator, becoming a therapist appealed to me because relationships and ecosystems both follow natural rhythms. If we want to heal a riparian zone, for instance, we make conditions right for the healthy natural rhythms to get back in line.  Relationships follow a similar process. Through our interactions, we both impact the world and are affected by the world. We don't live in a vacuum, context matters. I bring a spirit of adventure and balance to navigating the terrain of meaning making, repair and personal growth in relationship to self and other. Speaking of context, I recognize that I hold privileged identities and that these are not universal experiences. I am in an ongoing process of identifying blindspots and staying open to learning what I don't know.

I am especially skilled in helping individuals and couples who are adjusting to changes in the family life cycle and working through relationship issues. Because working with families and couples lends itself to bringing immediate lived experience into the room, the potential to work with the full range of emotion, thoughts, sensations, and meanings is a lively backdrop for changing patterns and promoting growth. Even with gridlocked issues, clients learn to find a way forward in the moment. I am experienced in helping couples with conflict mediation, pattern recognition, intimacy, trust building and life transitions. I am also available for couples who are seeking discernment counseling. Together we can explore interactions, beliefs, and emotional habits while building the capacity to experience life's full emotional range with greater awareness and choice.  Through this process, you can become more resourceful, strengthen your relationships, and develop the resilience needed to navigate complexity, conflict, and change.

Whether you're struggling in a relationship, facing a difficult transition, or feeling stuck in familiar patterns, therapy can help you reconnect with your strengths and move forward with greater clarity.  The uncertainty of investing time and money in an experience you can't fully predict can be difficult.  I hope you feel empowered to explore the possibilities in a conversation or first appointment with me to learn about the process and make the best decision for yourself.
